The reconfiguration and extension of a private house in Streatham Hill.

The original floorplan of the property consisted of a small kitchen and utility area which was separated from the other reception rooms in the house.

The owners were looking to improve the layout and create a light-filled, social family home that incorporated views and access to their south-west facing garden. In order to achieve a more efficient flow through the house, we reconfigured the property internally and added a crisp, contemporary extension to the rear, creating a family kitchen and dining area.

This was filled with skylights to flood the space with natural daylight and help connect the house to the outdoors. At the end of the corridor, that leads down from the living room to the kitchen, we included a zinc-clad corner window seat adding further detail and function, mirroring the bay window at the front, and introducing sight lines to the garden to draw you through the house.
